Day Twenty – *sigh* Is It Day 20 Already?
We started our day with a fun little breakfast item – blueberry muffin cones!
So simple, so fun, so tasty! Both girls really liked them, and I don’t think Emily has EVER eaten a muffin before. Must be the ice cream cone. Hmmm. What else can I put in a cone for her?
We used one of the Betty Crocker muffin mixes that comes in a little bag. The “just add water” type. Then we just spooned the batter in the cones and baked as directed. The girls basically did it by themselves (obviously except for the oven part).
Isabelle is such a little “mom” when they do things like this together. She makes sure Em gets a turn to stir or pour, she gives gentle little reminders when Em is about to make a mess. And she gets very proud when Em can do something all by herself.
This is what happens when you try to re-create a spontaneous little “All Right Emily! You did a great job stirring that! Hi-Five” moment.
Then it all collapsed into giggles from all three of us.
After a nice breakfast and Emily’s treatment, we made our weekly trip to the library. It is so nice to see how well behaved Emily can be there. She is all about finding a few books then sittting at the little table to read. Both of them made good book choices this week. And, we got some fun kid’s cd’s to listen to and copy.
This was supposed to be a beach day for Isabelle and some of the neighbor kids. But, while we were at the library it started to storm. So, we nursed her disappointment with a HUGE glazed doughnut at our favorite llittle bakery called Sweet Creations. Ummmmmmm. It smells so good in there.
After lunch, Isabelle played outside with the new neighbors and a few other kids. They ended up at our house to do “shrinky dinks.” Remember shrinky dinks? Watching the four girls do them today made me realize that Shrinky DInks just might be the Best Toy Ever. (In stark contrast to Moon Sand which is the WOrst Toy Ever) How cool is it to watch as your artwork shrivels, twists, shrinks and flattens? The colors look so cool when they are done. It’s hard to get a Shrinky Dink that doesn’t work out right. The girls all decided to make necklaces for their moms. We’ll have to finish then next week after I find some beads to add to their creations.
And, now, I am off to bed. I can’t keep my eyes open.
